2017 GOPHER STATE SPRING BASKETBALL GRADE DIVISIONS

 

3rd Grade – An athlete must be in the 3rd grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 11 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 10 prior to September 1, 2017.

4th Grade An athlete must be in the 4th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 12 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 11 prior to September 1, 2017.

5th Grade – An athlete must be in the 5th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 13 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 12 prior to September 1, 2017.

6th Grade An athlete must be in the 6th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 14 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 13 prior to September 1, 2017.

7th Grade An athlete must be in the 7th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 15 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 14 prior to September 1, 2017.

8th Grade An athlete must be in the 8th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 16 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 15 prior to September 1, 2017.

9th Grade - An athlete must be in the 9th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 17 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 16 prior to September 1, 2017.

10th Grade An athlete must be in the 10th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 18 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: Athlete does not turn 17 prior to September 1, 2017

11th/12th Grade An athlete must be in the 12th grade or below for the 2016-2017 school year and cannot turn 20 prior to September 1, 2017. Age Exception: None

 

Player Participation Rule - “Playing Up”

 Players may play up with the following limitations:
 
Grade Based Events
Players in 6th Grade and Younger (for events that are grade based):
  • Players may play up two grade levels.
  • Example: A 5th grader may play in a 6th grade or 7th grade tournament. The 5th grader could not play in an 8th grade or older tournament.
Players in 7th Grade and Older:
  • Players can play up without any restrictions. Please use good judgment. 
We have adopted this rule for player safety, liability and to maintain the integrity of the events.
