Youth Sports and Motivation: WOSPs (Well-Intentioned, Overinvolved Sports Parents)

Many people would agree that youth sports have gone crazy. Over the past several decades, youth sports have gone from a way to keep children active and out of trouble to an industry dominated by travel teams, personal trainers, and scouting services. Children’s schedules are packed, parents are stressed by time and money, and increasing numbers of kids are quitting sports because they are not enjoying themselves. How do we get youth sports to return to its roots to better benefit our children?

Each attendee will receive his book, compliments of MYAS.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn more about the landscape of youth basketball throughout the state of Minnesota as well the new MYAS Winter Basketball Programs and other and association services that will be available in the upcoming season from the MYAS basketball staff (a combined 68 years of experience administering youth basketball). Some of the programs include Winter Basketball Shoot Outs, Grade State Tune ups and Association Development Clinics.

The meeting will also be a great opportunity to meet and greet with Dawson Blanck, new MYAS Executive Director. If you have any specific concerns that you would like added to the meeting agenda, please call Dawson Blanck at 763-746-1714 or send him an e-mail to dawson@myas.org.
