The MYAS Gopher State Winter Basketball League (formerly the BTBL and GMBL)is a convenient league during the winter season that will not occupy all your time on the weekend. The league offers a 12-game schedule where teams play double-headers on Saturdays. The league allows teams the opportunity to play in quality games that will help players develop their skills without the pressure of winning another tournament. Many coaches have re-discovered the Gopher State Winter Basketball League to be the perfect fit for their team. The league is held during the months of December-March for 4th-12th grade teams emanating from a bona fide community athletic association, school program or rec/in-house program.

Upholding the belief that the upper Midwest is home to many truly talented high school basketball players who are not receiving the exposure necessary for college recruitment, the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services created the Gopher State Prep Showcase. The 2010 Prep Showcase will again be at the air-conditioned Lakeville South High School July 17-18, 2010.
The 2009 Prep Showcase had an increase of 16 teams from 2008 with 10 girls' teams participating for the first time. It was a great weekend of basketball culminating with Rosemount capturing the JV crown; Concordia Academy the 1A/2A division; St Paul Johnson the 3A/4A varsity boys' crown, and the Lakeville North girls taking the girls' championship.
Several players have been noticed the past seven years by college coaches attending the Prep Showcase and have been offered opportunities to continue their playing careers beyond high school. Don't miss this opportunity to "showcase" your players to numerous college coaches and recruiters.

The MYAS Gopher State Spring Basketball program had 3,500 team entries in 2009. We are very excited that over 90% of the spring basketball participants in Minnesota chose to play with MYAS. We expect those numbers to increase again in 2010. Providing a positive basketball experience for players of all ages and skill levels has been our goal since MYAS was created in 1991.
All participating teams MUST have USSSA team membership. Cost is $25. Go to www.usssa.com to register. MYAS does not require any additional membership fees to participate, thus saving most teams $150-$200. Gopher State Spring Basketball tournaments are open to USSSA teams from across the country and are highlighted with the Gopher State Spring Championships.
NEW IN 2010: Look for the MN Comets Midwest Elite Shootout on April 16-18th and the MN Magic Midwest Challenge on May 14-16th. These new events are 4-game guarantee tournaments and will feature teams from across the Midwest.
We hear too many times about teams signing up for tournaments, the tournaments getting cancelled and then it's a struggle getting your entry fee back.
Don't be fooled by imitations! Quality teams, quality facilities and quality administration is what you get with MYAS.

Traveling teams poured their heart and soul into every game to determine who would be crowned state champion in their respective grade and division.
