Dear MN Youth Basketball Alliance (MYBA) Association Leaders,

The MYAS staff and MYBA RTP Task Force understand and feel the anxiety and anticipation related to upcoming announcements and MDH review.  We are committed to working directly with Commissioner Tomes, MDH and Governor’s staff for proper guidance for RTP and will share information as it becomes available, throughout the weekend, if needed.

Last night 129 leaders from MYBA member associations attended the December 22nd virtual meeting. This meeting specifically highlighted the duties of the designated MYBA Association COVID Compliance Manager and the positive case process proposed by the Task Force. A brief tutorial of the MYBA Comprehensive Preparedness Guide also took place.  We greatly appreciate you all taking time out of your Tuesday evening to attend this Zoom.

From the start of this pause in youth sports, this board had two goals:
      • To provide a safe and healthy return to participation for youth basketball players; and
      • To provide assurances to Governor Walz, his cabinet, and the MN Department of Health (MDH) that we, the Minnesota youth basketball community, are committed to ensuring appropriate safety measures and reporting mechanisms as created by the MYBA Return to Participation Task Force.
    • Presented to Commissioner Tomes, MDH and Governor’s staff for review.
    • Awaiting feedback to ensure that the State of Minnesota supports the policies and procedures contained within the manual.
  • MYBA COVID-19 Return to Participation Pledge
    • Will be accessible in the MYBA Portal once the Return to Participation Manual is approved by Commissioner Tomes, MDH and the Governor’s staff.
    • The intent of the Pledge and the MYBA Return to Participation Manual is to create safe and consistent policies and procedures that will ensure uniformity among the MYBA member associations from around the state of Minnesota.
    • Implementation by all MYBA members will create the safety and consistency that the state of Minnesota has requested.
