Minnesota Youth Basketball Community,

My name is Chad Greenway and I am the President of the Wayzata Girls Basketball Association. I have been in this position for 3 years, but it is safe to say we haven’t dealt with anything as challenging as managing a youth association under a world pandemic.

I was honored with being asked to join the MYBA Return to Participation Task Force. Once acquainted with the Task force members we went hard at work to prepare a manual that would position each Youth Basketball Association on the same COVID Preparedness Gide. While in conversations with the Governors youth sports representatives and the MDH we knew we had to create a Manual that all could follow. The one main concern that the State had was the disconnected nature in which all youth sports associations were handling the response to COVID. The MYAS/MYBA took the initiative to connect a bunch of Associations from around the state (metro and out state) to create this Manual that will hopefully allow youth sports to start on January 4th and continue on as “normal”.

We all want our kids to be back doing the things they enjoy and putting some activity and fun back in their lives. We believe that following this Manual and staying compliant to the COVID Preparedness Guide then we all have a better chance of making sure that happens. I hope I see all of you on a basketball court sometime soon.

Wayzata Girls Travel Basketball Association President
