Cultural Interaction Through Sports
During these last few weeks, our Minnesota communities have been dealing with some unforeseeable events; events that could shake a community to its core. The Minnesota Youth Athletic Services, Inc. stands in solidarity with our communities in need. One of our goals as an organization is to; promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and cultural interaction through sporting competitions.
The MYAS Grade State Basketball Championships will take place over the next three weekends at 26 locations across the Twin Cities. The Minnesota youth basketball community all have the capability of modeling this goal through the expectations of a Conduct 1st Environment, being instilled at each playing location.
remember it’s about the kids (it is their game); keep competitive energies in check (officials are human and – like all of us – are not perfect; teach your players by exhibiting good conduct during competition); always respect officials and opponents (coaches, officials, and parents/spectators must partner to ensure the kids on both teams have a safe, positive, and productive experience).
The great Nelson Mandela once said, “Sport has the power to change the world,” and we have an obligation to do better for the children and families in our communities.
MYAS will continue partnering with the youth sports community, specifically in basketball, baseball, and football, across the state of Minnesota, always looking for ways to provide a safe, positive, and productive experience for the youth of today and tomorrow.
