GSFL Playoff Info
2026 GSFL Playoff Info
Playoff schedules will be posted by 4pm on Friday, October 2nd.
Playoff Format
2nd-4th Grade – Bowl Game
- All teams will participate in one bowl game on October 10–11.
- If a grade level has an odd number of teams, one team may play two bowl games.
- Matchups will be formed with the goal of creating a competitive and enjoyable matchup to finish the season.
- Matchups will not necessarily be based strictly on standings or rankings. A variety of factors will be considered when determining the most appropriate matchup for each team.
5th-8th Grade – Tiered Playoff
- All teams will participate in the playoff format.
- Teams will play two playoff games between October 6–11, with the possibility of a third game depending on the final format and number of participating teams.
- We will form as many 4-team divisions as possible at each age level.
- Because some grade levels may not have a number of teams divisible by four, certain tiers may consist of 3, 5, or 6 teams.
- In those situations, teams may have a Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday-Sunday playoff schedule. We recognize that this is not ideal, but it may be unavoidable based on the final number of participating teams and available scheduling options.
- While we will make every effort to provide unique opponents, repeat matchups may be unavoidable in some situations.
Factors Used to Form Tiers (5th-8th) and Matchups (2nd-4th)
Because of all of the reasons listed below, we will not be responding to questions/complaints regarding tier placement or team rankings.
Playoff tiers and matchups will be determined using a variety of factors, including but not limited to:
- Record
- Head-to-head results
- Points against
- Points forced
- Team rating/grouping
- Geography
- Regular-season opponents
- Home/host site availability
- Scheduling requests
- Officials availability
